NYCWATERSHOTS is a surf photography and news website located in Rockaway Beach NY. Rockaway Beach is the southern most stretch of coastline in New York City and the only stretch that gets good surf. Surf season in NYC is late summer, fall and winter. Water temps range from 76 degrees in summer to 38 degrees in late Jan./Feb. Rockaway has a long history as a surf town. Duke Kahanamoku visited and surfed Rockaway in 1912. In 1977 The Ramones idolized the town in their hit song titled “Rockaway Beach”. Today waves are ridden more than ever and Rockaway Beach is growing into a full fledged surf town. NYCWATERSHOTS is there to cover all the great storms and swells that pound our shores and the surfers who ride them.
