ITS HERE, FINALLY A SOLID SWELL! 4/16/09
The winds are favorable, the sun is out, a perfect spring day for surf. After what seemed like months of small surf, a solid mid-period groundswell has arrived. The forcasts started to churn last week in anticipation of what could be an end the small run of surf we have had. Unlike Jersey which has managed to put together a few really good days lately, here in NYC, we have been skunked by the fast moving fronts that always seem to go by overnight and leave us dreaming of what should have been, and what was in Jersey! The first signs of the “tax swell” arrived pretty quick on wednesday the 15th. Started very small early in the morning but with the incoming push, the swell pulsed in and grew quick. Those brave enough to battle the strong sweep and bitter east northeast winds scored some fun bowls. The waves were A-framing up because of the straight east swell direction and the wind blowing into the rights offered a glimpse of what was to come!
