Rockaway Surf Update – Friday July 30

Rockaway Surf Report No Comments

Rockaway 91-95 streets

Surf is basically flat, a cool front came through yesterday evening, air temps much more comfortable, humidity way down. Winds are offshore but no swell in sight.

Tropics

We have a little something just coming off the West African coastline. All the models do show some strengthening expected. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Statement as of 8:00 am EDT on July 30, 2010

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
A tropical wave over the southeastern Caribbean Sea is producing
disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity. There is a low
chance...10 percent...of this system becoming a tropical cyclone
during the next 48 hours as it moves westward at around 15 to 20
mph.
A small area of disturbed weather located over the eastern Atlantic
Ocean about 700 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands is
showing no signs of development at this time. However...a tropical
wave that just moved off the coast of Africa is producing a large
area of showers and thunderstorms...and these two systems could
begin to interact in a couple of days. There is a low chance...20
percent...of tropical cyclone formation in this area during the
next 48 hours.
Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the
next 48 hours.
