Liam Greaney in Hawaii’s “freesurf” Magazine
A lot of East Coasters, a few Northeasters, and even fewer New Yorkers stand out when they surf in Hawaii. Many guys make the move and realize its tougher than they expected, waves are bigger, egos even more, crazy crowds, expensive everything except maybe surfboards, jobs are hard to come by, and the girls don’t look at you if your not a pro…most of the time. One New Yorker and Rockaway Beach local, not only made the move, has a sick job with hours that allow him to clock heaps of water time, ladies love him, and stands out at the biggest spots on North Shore, West Side, and South Shores.
Liam Greaney decided to make the move to wave rich Hawaii in 2002. 8 years later he’s charging big sunset, avalanche by himself, crazy west side outer reefs, and not thinking twice. During this years insane pacific winter, Liam scored this full page shot at “Rockpiles” in Hawaii’s Feb. edition of “freesurf” magazine. Keep charging Liam, your making Rockaway proud!
